VEINS Broken veins, spider veins or thread veins on legs and faces all describe the condition many people suffer from to some degree. These are small red or purple capillaries close to the surface of the skin, which are harmless but unsightly. We believe that sclerotherapy is still the best treatment for leg veins and in our experience lasers are disappointing.
A medically approved chemical is injected into the veins, which gradually fade over a period of 3-4 weeks. In many cases 2-3 treatments may be necessary; these are given at 3-6 week intervals. We offer a free consultation.
The treatment takes approximately 30 to 60 minutes. No bandages are required, and normal activities can be resumed the same day. Tiny needle marks will be visible for 1-2 weeks. Patients who suffer from poor circulation or are obese may not respond to the treatment as well. Some people have a tendency to develop thread veins all their lives.
If varicose veins are present those should be treated first. We can offer a free consultation with a Consultant Surgeon who specialises in varicose veins.
VEINS Treatment by sclerotherapy is successful for larger face veins. Post treatment pinkness, of needle marks, is concealed with tinted antiseptic powder. Electroylsis may be suitable for very fine veins around the nose. Red marks or skin blemishes known as a spider naevus (plural = naevi) can be also be treated by these methods.
